BiDi Filter (Bidirectional Filter) is a special Optical Communication Filter developed by MULTI IR based on Dichroic Mirror technology. Its core function is to realize "bidirectional transmission over a single optical fiber", that is, to separate the Transmitter (TX) and Receiver (RX) signals in the same optical fiber by selectively transmitting and reflecting optical signals of different wavelengths. The product adopts a special multi-layer dielectric thin film structure, with a reflectivity of ≥ 99% for TX wavelength (such as 1310nm) and a transmittance of ≥ 95% for RX wavelength (such as 1550nm), insertion loss ≤ 0.3dB, crosstalk ≤ -40dB, which can completely avoid mutual interference between transmitted and received signals. This product is compatible with special optical modules such as SFP BiDi and GBIC BiDi, and the packaging size is compatible with 1.8×1.8mm~2.5×2.5mm, meeting the integration needs of different equipment; at the same time, it has industrial-grade temperature resistance (-40℃~85℃) and anti-vibration characteristics, and the performance does not attenuate after 1000 thermal cycle tests. Combined with the brand quality of MULTI IR (MULTI IR Optical Filters), it can effectively reduce the optical fiber laying cost (reducing 50% of optical fiber usage), and is an economical solution for short-distance optical communication scenarios.

    Application Field

This product is widely used in the Optical Network Unit (ONU) at the user end of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), realizing bidirectional data transmission of home broadband over a single fiber and reducing the cost of optical fiber wiring in communities; in campus networks and enterprise local area networks, it is compatible with small and medium-sized optical communication links in office buildings and campuses, meeting the network interconnection needs of multiple floors and regions; at the same time, it is suitable for short-distance transmission (2-10km) of video conference systems and remote monitoring, reducing the occupation of optical fiber resources; in addition, in the interconnection of edge devices in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), it can realize sensor data upload and control command issuance through a single fiber, simplifying industrial on-site wiring, and fully covering the "short-distance-low cost" bidirectional transmission scenarios over a single fiber.
